PROJECT OVERVIEW  LENAPE CODE: EXPLORATIONS IN DELAWARE ARTSDenisePeabody2013crop

For more information about USA Projects, see their website http://www.usaprojects.org/

From May, 2012 to Sept., 2013, I have used USA Projects funds to travel and research Delaware Indian glyphs. Travels included trips to museums in Milwaukee, central Kansas, Iowa, Washington, D.C., and Boston. I presented partial findings at the Native American Literature Symposium in Minneapolis and Park College in Parkville, Missouri. Most helpful were individuals from related tribal communities who shared information, written and/or oral. They include Stephanie Fitzgerald, Alice Azure, Mikhu Paul, Heid Erdrich, Mary Walker, and Thomas Pecore Weso. Additional Native sources are from Rhonda Besaw, Melissa Jayne Fawcett, and Gladys Tantamidgeon. (Photo by Kathryn Kysar.)
